The iPad3 Challenge to Web Sites

With the launch of iPad3 in Mexico, the challenge of resolution and display for web sites must be resolved immediately.

The iPad3 Challenge to Web Sites

This month, technology giant, Apple, released the newest version of its popular electronic tablet, the iPad3. The U.S release date was March 16 and the iPad3 was presented in Mexico on the 23rd. According to statistics from Apple, there are currently 15.4 million iPads worldwide, a figure that continues to rise.

Main features of the new Apple tablet include “Retina Display” which offers sharper resolution than an HDTV, a 5 mega pixel iSight camera with the same lens as the iPhone 4S, a width of 9.4 mm, compatibility with  Red 4G, and battery life of up to 10 hours.

What will be the impact of this new product to existing sites? With the launch of the iPhone and the battle between Apple and Adobe, which reduced the use of the popular web language Flash due to irrelevance and compatibility issues, Apple forced the redesign of websites around the world. The challenge for site designers now is to immediately ensure that websites display correctly and offer a unique experience to both visitors and potential customers.

As technology advances so rapidly, it is essential to create a website that meets the needs of a PC, a Mac, an iPhone, a BlackBerry, the different versions of iPad, Kindle and others. When will this maelstrom end? Hopefully never, as it is an indicator of the continued development of technology.

What happens specifically with the 4G Network in Mexico? Those who buy the iPhone with the version that uses this technology will use only half the potential of their device. The iPad3 works only under limited conditions because there is no wireless network infrastructure to deliver the required connection speed that technology, 100Mbps while moving and 1Gbps while stationary.

Currently, Apple competes in the tablet market with the Galaxy Samsung, Motorola Xoom and BlackBerry Playbook, among others, and has a greater than 70% market share, according to recent data released by iSuppli.
