Spam, or junk mail are the messages that aren't requested or wanted but everyone has gotten through the internet.
Usually the mails from who we receive these messages are unknown and the body of the message is advertising or in some cases even fraudulent. This type of messages are sent in massive quantities to e-mail lists and aren't made personally so thousands of people receive the same message of winning a lottery that they didn't even subscribe for or a discount when buying something.
This type of junk mail has evolved along with technology. Before it was received by normal mail but after the invention of the internet now is common to receive it by e-mail. Other tools of the internet have started to be victims of spamming are social networks like Facebook and Twitter, but blogs, forums and pop-ups have been affected too.
What to do against spamming?
Most of the e-mail servers have spam detectors that automatically filter suspicious e-mails from the Inbox to spam folders. Normally this isn't enough since some mails get to pass these filters so it is necessary that if you receive and identify one of this you should mark it as spam. Also, sometimes it's necessary to navigate through the spam folder to be sure that there's no e-mail there that we were waiting for and was misidentified.
