Never underestimate the power of women, much less their power within social media. When considering the number of active users on social networks and frequency of their interactions with other users and brands, women represent a powerful force.
For example, it is well known that women are leading the number of users on Pinterest, but not only that, they also lead other social networks like Facebook. For example in the United States they represent 56% of all users.
Women also lead the use of social media on mobile devices as well as having the largest actual number of users in almost all social communities like Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. The only network with a larger number of men than women is LinkedIn.
Women and Brands on Social Media
Compared to men, women are more likely to interact with brands. This means that a higher percentage of women show support for a brand by accessing offers and commenting on social media posts.
For businesses, this represents a great opportunity to reach and build relationships with influential people. In addition, there is an opportunity for brands to increase participation through comments, if more posts are tailored to the female audience.
So when you evaluate your social media strategy, remember that women interact with brands more often and consume and share news more often than men.
