World Art Day

Around the world was celebrated the artistic creativity of the multifaceted Leonardo Da Vinci. The World Art Day was accepted by the UNESCO starting last year every the April 15, day in which the author of the masterpiece “La Gioconda” was born.

• Why Leonardo Da Vinci?

Taking in count the multiple facets of Da Vinci as a painter, sculptor, thinker, writer, inventor, mathematician and philosopher, his birthday was seen as a perfect option to commemorate the part that art takes in the contemporary world.

• Who declared it?

The International Association of Arts – IAA

• What is its objective?

The World Art Day has the mission of bring closer the world of the arts with the global community, create consciousness of the importance of arts in the world, inform society about the different expressions of art and revalue the social and economic aspects of art.

• How it’s conmemorated?

 All the committee members of the AII contribute to celebrate de World Art Day through festivals, exhibitions, forums, posters, banners and parties; every time making emphasis in the importance of art to get peace and freedom.

• And in Mexico?

The artistic community in Mexico developed a series of activities in galleries, museums and public gardens, which centered in the promotion of plastic arts.
