Little Monsters: Lady Gaga’s Social Network

By Jorge Chávez

February 16, 2012

Lady Gaga, one of the most popular pop stars using social networks, has decided to launch her own online community called Little Monsters, with an interface similar to Pinterest.

The singer of “Born This Way” became the first person in the world to exceed 18 million followers on Twitter. Additionally, she has more than 47 million fans on Facebook. Maybe that inspired her to create Little Monsters, her own social network to gather her retinue of followers.

Unlike Gaga herself, the network interface is quiet, much like Pinterest. There is no timeline, but the contents are divided into blocks and give full weight to the images as a means of interaction.

Like any social network, you can also have followers and bookmark the content that interests you. Little Monsters offers editing tools for modifying and sharing publications and for more private interactions between users, a messaging system.

One section is only filled with the information for Lady Gaga events so that users can plan their attendance.

Although the version is in beta, accessing this new virtual space requires prior invitation. To do this, it is only necessary to enter an email and wait for access instructions.

Lady Gaga has not said if she will stop using Twitter and Facebook to focus on Little Monsters. What is fair to acknowledge is that fans have embraced the initiative of the singer to create their own virtual community.

The questions are: What other artists will follow the same path as Lady Gaga? Will we soon have a social network for Justin Bieber or Robert Pattinson? I think that depending on the results obtained by Lady Gaga, the newly elected Artist of the Year at the Grammys 2012, others may try to follow this trend.
