Augmented reality is an area that has gradually been emerging between users and web developers to enrich the experience of the first and, in many cases, to test the knowledge and skills of the second.
This tool consists in a simple procedure: To overlay fictitious or digital elements on a real image. The most common way of finding this technology is in applications for mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets. The camera built into the device is used to get real-time images of the environment where the user is located and analyzes the images using other sensors such as: GPS, gyroscopes and accelerometers to get the location and position of the device and, based on these data, overlay digital elements.
One of the most used Software Development Kits (SDK) to create augmented reality applications is the Vuforia, developed by Qualcomm, as it can be used for both iOS and Android operating systems, covering almost 50% of middle and upper range mobile devices on the market.
If you want to see what these applications are capable of, I invite you to download one of these in to your device:
• Virtual Audi Q3 (iOS) • Augment (Android, iOS) • 3illiards – AR Pool (Android) • VW up! 3D (Android, iOS) • Browser junaio-Augmented Reality-(IOS)
