It is often difficult to distinguish between work stress and the stress of daily life, which is why it is important to identify the factors that are causing stress and have the tools to eradicate them.

In jobs that involve a high level of stress, staff training is important for teaching employees the best way to manage stress.  Employee stress can cause with apathy or a bad attitude towards work, hence the importance teaching staff how best to cope with workplace stress.

Manuel Pando Moreno, Research Specialist at the Institute of Occupational Health University Center for Health Sciences (CUCS), University of Guadalajara, says that “in today’s environment stress is very common, but does not mean we should suffer from it “.

Pando Moreno says that factors that can cause stress at work can range from an overloaded schedule, disorganization within the workplace and poor interpersonal relationships.  All these circumstances should be identified and eradicated in order to have a positive environment within the workplace.

When stress is not managed well and it is left untreated, it can present itself in physical symptoms like headaches, gastritis, colitis, hypertension, and in extreme cases, stroke.

Burnout is another common response to stress as well as cynicism and a detached attitude towards work, and not only effects workers at their place of work but can also affect their personal life and relationships with family and friends.

Labor organizations must be interested and invested in reducing the stress of workers. Undoubtedly, finding a balance in all aspects of life will better prepare us to meet the challenges of every day.
